Should my cat receive injectable or oral treatment?
It is recommended to start all FIP treatment with injections for 2-4 weeks. Injections provide the most accurate and control dosing for rapid viral load reduction.
If FIP infections are identified early, and the symptoms are light, oral form can be considered as a first line of defense. Follow your veterinarian’s recommendation.
How is the correct dosage determined?
Dosage is based on body weight, FIP form, and clinical response.
The general recommended starting dosages are:
Wet FIP = 6 mg/kg
Dry FIP = 8 mg/kg
Neurological / Ocular FIP = 10 mg/kg
What happens if I miss a dose or give it late?
A dose of GS-441524 should be given every 24 hours.
Ad dose EIDD-1931 should be given every 12 hours.
If you missed a dose, administer the dose as soon as possible and resume the normal schedule. Avoid doubling doses.
Can the dosage change during the treatment period?
Yes. Dosage may be adjusted if body weight changes or symptoms worsens during the treatment. Body weight increase is generally a good sign that your cat is responding well to the treatment., while symptom worsening generally indicate mild to severe under-dosing. In both cases, dosage should be increased. Consult your veterinarian or our treatment experts when adjusting dosage.
Is it safe to switch from injections to capsules?
In most cases, yes. Symptoms, eating habits, and length of treatment all play a factor in determining when and whether to switch. Consultation your veterinarian or treatment expert before switching to ensure treatment success.
